Please remember to start saving your loose change for our bucket collection during the parade and also to the bucketeers as you enter the Recreation Ground. Collecting buckets will also be placed for further donations at the bar & raffle stall. Please give generously as this is an essential part of Carnival fundraising – thank you!
At 12:30pm Carnival parade leaves Margaret Field and goes along the High Street, The Causeway and down Hythe Lane - arriving at the Recreation Ground and paraders/helpers assemble in front of the stage, surrounded by Carnival goers to hear who's won best float and runners up. Presented by our Carnival King & Queen, supported by their attendants.
The Fair this year sees the return of the ever popular ‘HI Energy Miami’, together with a slightly larger set of Dodgems! Other attractions are the Giant Triple Decker Fun House, Helter Skelter, Mirror Maze, Cottage Fun House and the Mini Wheel along with several other juvenile rides and fun inflatable attractions scattered around the site. Max Jamieson, and his fellow skateboarders, will be giving displays on the skate park throughout the afternoon.
Food wise, we have the addition of a noodle bar attending for the first time plus our regular attendees of: fish & chips, burgers, pizzas & pork rolls on offer throughout the event. For those with a sweet tooth, doughnuts & ice cream will be on sale come rain or shine!
To quench your thirst, we have a couple of options, with the wonderful Burwell ‘WI’ Belles supplying hot drinks and refreshments, for lunch & tea; together with our licensed bar (12noon-10.45pm) selling real ale, lagers and Pimms by the jugs/glasses, along with other spirits, soft drinks and snacks.
There’s no need to go anywhere as we have everything you need for a ‘free to enter’, full and fun family day out. Finally folks, do tell your friends to come along or bring them with you. Do bring chairs and rugs but please no glassware, own alcohol (otherwise we could lose our license) or bad behaviour – thank you!
Enjoy a full day & evening at Burwell Carnival!
