Burwell Village Carnival

We are delighted to announce the Burwell Carnival will be on Saturday 25th June 2022, taking place at the Recreation Ground, Burwell, CB25 0EZ. The objective of the carnival is to provide entertainment and activities for all the family and community at large to enjoy. The total attendance could be around 3k+ people during the day/evening, with all money raised from events prior to and throughout the day put towards running future events and worthy causes within the community.

The Carnival Marketplace is always incredibly popular at this event and though we have initially booked members of Burwell Shop Small (local crafters/home-made products etc.), we are now open to other community groups/charity/wider located stalls to book as well.

We really want to support and and celebrate local entrepreneurs, small businesses and local social enterprise schemes and local groups which meet the criteria of:

  • Local crafters/traders/businesses of local home made products, local grown produce, items to be hand-made, products created/produced by the seller in their entirety.
  • No items to be pre-bought or pre-manufactured products to be simply sold on. However, applying customisation or personalisation is acceptable.
  • You supply services and support offered by the group or charity to be beneficial to the residents of Burwell and surrounding villages.
  • Within a 20 mile radius of Burwell.

The fee for a stall area within our Carnival Marketplace is £25 for a 4m x 4m plot.

  • Please bring and build your own gazebo and a table for your merchandise to be displayed on and purchased from.  This Marketplace is outdoor,  no cover is provided and there may well be weather conditions which need to be sheltered from.
  • There will be space for one car to be parked behind your allocated stall during the event.
  • All vehicles must be accompanied on and off the field by Carnival Stewards as this is a legal and safety requirement.

Exact timings are TBC nearer the event, but current advice to reflect our proposed plans are:
Stall holders will have access to the Marketplace from 10.30am and will need to be set up and ready to trade for 12.30 as we intend to open the gates to the public at either 12.30 or 1pm.

Traffic will temporarily halted from accessing The Causeway & Hythe Lane, for the themed parade starting at 1.30pm, coming onto The Rec. for +2pm. We ask all stalls must remain open until 5.30pm at which time Marketplace vehicles will need to be escorted by Carnival Stewards from the site between 5.45pm – 6.45pm. All stall plots must be emptied by this time for safety and security reasons.
